Zebrasoma flavescens - Yellow Surgeonfish - Breeding example image

The yellow sailfin surgeonfish was probably THE surgeonfish par excellence - it was a permanent fixture in many tanks, and for good reason. However, in 2021, wild captures of this fish for the aquarium industry were banned on a large scale in Hawaii, so that wild catches are no longer available despite extremely high demand.

That is why we are even more pleased to be able to offer you these offspring.

The Hawaiian surgeonfish is one of the most peaceful species of surgeonfish. It can be kept very well with other fish, as it is not very aggressive. It gets along well with other fish and is best kept in a group. We recommend a tank size of 500 liters or more, so that the yellow surgeonfish has enough space to swim and live out its full range of behavior.

The lemon surgeonfish adapts well to aquarium life. Like all surgeonfish, it is a good algae eater, and these offspring eat all kinds of food such as nori algae and mysis, as well as flake food and granulated food. If the yellow sailfin surgeonfish stops eating, it is stressed or sick. In general, however, these surgeonfish offspring are not very susceptible to Cryptocarion and other diseases.

The animals are usually still very small when delivered (from 5cm) and therefore most of them have not yet fully coloured.
